There are a few interesting ideas that I am still processing since attending the “I Can Do It” conference and I thought I would share some of them here.
Deepak Chopra has written many books but it was nice to hear him talk in person and share what was on his mind. He introduced the notion that science, religion and philosophy are all systems of thought and we we need all three, but that you cannot fully appreciate reality through a system of thought.
He believes that you can only truly come to know reality through meditation that will take you beyond thought. He asked the rhetorical question, “What is awareness?” His response was that awareness is about becoming fully conscious and, in essence, it comes back to the question of “What am I?”
Chopra suggested that we are many different things but that fundamentally we are spiritual beings. We may have limiting beliefs that sometimes hold us back, but ultimately we are filled with infinite possibility. And the fastest way to happiness is to make others happy through attention, appreciation and affection.

I liked this quote
Having a resentment or grievance is like drinking poison and hoping it will kill your enemy!
He walked the audience through the following mediation exercise:
Meditation Exercise
Step 1: Sit comfortably
Step 2: Observe the breath. Pay attention to your lungs. Take several deep breaths and relax. Wait one minute and ask:
Who am I?
What do I want?
What is my purpose?
What I am I grateful for?
Then just sit quietly and listen.
Step 3: Focus your attention on your heart. Wait and breathe.
Step 4: Focus your attention on your heart beat. Feel the pulse in the tips of your fingers. The heart is the brain of your body.
Step 5: Repeat the words, “I AM”.
21 Day Meditation Challenge
You can also sign up for a free 21 day meditation challenge here presented by Deepak and Oprah. This mediation centres around relationships and I like his comment: “Instead of looking for the right person, become the right person, so the right people show up for you!”
